Joe Reinman, Assistant Scoutmaster

Mr. Reinman was born and raised in South Florida where he joined cub scouts in the 2nd grade. After earning his Arrow of Light, he continued on in scouting obtaining his Eagle in 1970. That same year, he began a 7-year “career” at South Florida Council’s summer camps including positions as nature director and program director. Mr. Reinman’s love of the outdoors fostered through scouting lead him to the University of Florida where he earned his B.S. in Wildlife Ecology in 1977. Joe began his career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and currently works at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge where he serves as the Supervisory Wildlife Biologist today. He and his wife Judy are proud parents of Brice, 16 and Christi, 13. Mr. Reinman became active in scouting again when Brice became a Tiger in Pack 10 in Tallahassee, FL. There, Mr. Reinman served as cubmaster and pack trainer. In addition, Joe serves as a PDL unit commission, PDL trainer, & co-lead’s planning for SRAC Winter Camp. Mr. Reinman attended Wood Badge Course SR706 as a member of the fox patrol and has served on staff as a troop guide for SR807 and scribe for SR949.

Chris Stahl, Assistant Scoutmaster

Although Chris made the rank of Tenderfoot in his younger days, Chris has become involved in Scouting since 2003 when his son, Andrew, started Cub Scouts as a Tiger. While he held no official position with several packs, he was one of those go-to parents than help out in the background from 2003- 2008. From 2008- 2009 he served as Troop 10’s Outdoor Coordinator. Beginning in 2009 until present, he has been one of our Assistant Scoutmasters and a survivor of no less than three summer camps. In July of 2009 he received his Wood Badge Beads for finishing his ticket items for SR-949. His greatest enjoyment from scouting is sharing his love of the outdoors and respect for the wonders of the natural world. Chris is a graduate of the Mississippi State University and Texas A&M University. He currently works for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, involved in the review of large transportation projects and land use changes around the state. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, wood working, camping, hunting, hiking and basically anything in the great outdoors. Past merit badges offered by Chris have included: hiking, backpacking, oceanography, wood carving, fire safety, and many more to come. Chris is a third generation, native Floridian.

Phil Smith, Assistant Scoutmaster / Eagle Board of Reviews

Assistant Scoutmaster since 2007. Scoutmaster from 2004-2007. Assistant Scoutmaster from 2000-2003. Previous Cub/Boy Scout. Eagle 1968 from Grayback Council (Redlands, Calif). OA 1968. Graduated from FSU (73') and UF Law School ('73). Florida prosecutor since 1982. Served in USAF as JAG for 27 years and retired in 2004 as Colonel. Currently member of SRAC Executive Board, PDL District Committee, and PDL Eagle Board. OA Brotherhood ('07). Philmont X 2 ('84 and '86). Seabase ('09). Married to Lynn Smith ('86). Daughter Heather attends UF. Son Morgan Smith attends UWF and received Eagle ('06). Wood Badge ('07). Enjoys all things scouting/family.

Gail Schaper, Assistant Scoutmaster / Advancement Coordinator

Born and raised in Miami Florida, Gail  moved to Tallahassee in 1979 to go to Florida State University to Major in Music Therapy. She stayed here because of the natural beauty of Tallahassee, working in  retail for 10 years. She then started working at the Tallahassee Democrat in 1989 as an out sides sales rep, and now 21 years later she is the major and national account rep. Married to husband Steven for 6 years, they have one son Kevin who is a life scout. Gail was a Girl scout in her younger years and worked up to Cadets, but decided that Band took up much of her time. The love of the scouting brought her to Pack 10 with her son. She was a den leader for 5 years and advancement coordinator for 4 years. When her son moved to Troop 10 so did she, as advancement coordinator, from 2008 to present day.  Now serves as PDL Unit Commissioner over 2 packs and 2 troops. She has taught training at University of scouting and Basic leader training and also has volunteered at Tiger Prowl. Gail attended Woodbadge training Jan. 2009 -SR 949 and received her beads June 2009. She is also the Patrol Leader of the Eagle Patrol. Watching and helping the boys progress through the ranks, she has a true love of the Scouting Program.

Hank Vinson, Assistant Scoutmaster / Outdoor Coordinator

A fifth generation Floridian, Hank was born and raised in Tallahassee where he joined cub scouts in the second grade. Hank attended Florida State University where he earned a B.A.(88) and M.A.(92) in History. Hank began his professional career in 1990 working for the Florida Park Service and has worked for the Florida Department's of State, Community Affairs, and Environmental Protection in a variety of land management and natural resource protection positions. He and his wife Kelly are proud parents of Joshua (12) and Madison (9). Hank became active in scouting when Joshua became a Wolf in Pack 10 in Tallahassee, Florida. When Joshua joined Troop 10, Hank volunteered to serve on the troop committee and eventually moved to assistant scoutmaster for the Bat Patrol. Hank attended Wood Badge Course S4-664-11 as a member of the eagle patrol. Hank is an avid camper and backpacker and has logged more than 200 miles on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Kris Sullivan, Assistant Scoutmaster

Kris been active leader in his daughter’s (Kira) Venture Crew and son’s (Quinn) Boy Scout Troop. Prior to his son joining Troop 10 in 2010, Kris was the Cubmaster and Webleos leader in Pack 10 for several years. Kris is an Eagle Scout (1986) and attended Woodbadge training in 2011. Kris Sullivan has been a long term employee (15 years) with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General. Since 1997, Kris has held positions as the Performance Audit Manager, Information Technology Audit Manager and most recently as the Policy and Operations Audit Senior Manager. Kris is a graduate of Florida State University with a master’s degree in International Affairs. He earned designations as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association in 2000 and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors in 2003.

Bruce Hoffman , Committee Chair

Bruce was raised in Miami, where he went through the Cub Scouts, then joined Troop 300 in Miami Springs. He had earned his Second Class rank when his family moved, ending his time as a Boy Scout. Bruce graduated from the University of Florida in 1969, following which, he traveled throughout the eastern U.S. visiting various college campuses as a Field Secretary for Theta Chi Fraternity. After two years on the road, he returned to Gainesville and law school, from which he graduated in 1974. He then moved back to Miami, where he worked as an attorney in private practice from 1974 through 1999. During that period, Bruce served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, from 1988-1992. He met Marion Spiegel in Tallahassee, and they were married in 1991. Son Travis was born in 1998, and the Hoffmann family relocated to Tallahassee in 1999, where Bruce worked as a General Counsel , first for DMS, and then for the Department of Revenue. He is now employed as Chief of Staff for the Florida Lottery. Bruce got involved in scouting again when Travis joined Pack 10, and he has served as a co-Den Leader, a Pack Committee Member, and now as a member of the Troop Committee for Troop 10. He attended Wood Badge Course S4-664-11 and is a proud member of the Owl Patrol. Bruce enjoys family time, helping Travis with his athletics and watching college sports with him, and looks forward to assisting with the development of the scouts as they move through the ranks toward Eagle.

Leo Lachat, Committee Member / Charter Organization Representative

Mr. Lachat has served with Scouting for over 46 years. He earned the Arrow of Light award in 1967 and became an Eagle Scout (with Bronze Palm) in 1972. A Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, he was selected to serve on the youth staff as a marksmanship instructor for the 1973 National Scout Jamboree (East) in Pennsylvania. From 1974 – 1994, Mr. Lachat served in the active and reserve components of the United States Marine Corps. During that period he maintained his affiliation whenever possible with Scouting overseas and in the United States by serving in various capacities as a merit badge counselor for local Troops, providing engineering support for Camporees, and participating in numerous Eagle Scout projects aboard military bases while on active duty. At the request of Lafayette Presbyterian Church, he became an Assistant Webelos Den Leader for Pack 10 in 1991 and served with that unit through 2002 in various capacities including Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Webelos 1 and 2 Den Leader, Tiger Cub Coach, and Pack Committee Chairman. Seeing the need for a Boy Scout Troop at the Church, he became the Founder for Troop 10 signing the chartering documents effective in August 2000 and served initially as the Troop 10 Committee Chairman. In 2002 he became the Scoutmaster for Troop 10 and remained as such until 2004 when he was selected by the Suwannee River Area Council to serve as a Scoutmaster for a Council Troop for the 2005 National Scout Jamboree in Virginia. In 2007 he served as a Crew Advisor for a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch. Over the years he has also served in a number of additional adult capacities such as District Committee Member, Council Executive Board Member, Chartered Organization Representative, Member of the District Eagle Scout Board of Review, and Council Trainer. He is a Wood Badge graduate (Eagle Patrol: SR-387-22) and recipient of numerous awards for service to Scouting including the National Scoutmaster Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver Medal, the District Award of Merit, and the Celtic Cross Medal from the National Association of Presbyterian Scouters. During his tenure with Scouting, he has participated in 398 (as of 2010) camping nights in the field with Scouting units.
